Robert Joseph Derwin
Robert Joseph Derwin, Aged 62 (6-20-1954), resident of St. Peters Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. He is survived by his nephew Joshua Derwin (Victoria) and niece Emily Rashleigh (Kenneth), and their five children Caleb, Robert, Ian, Lillian and Emmett who all knew him affectionately as their Grandpa Bob. Bob was a man dedicated to other people his entire life, he helped everyone he could, he cared about family, friends and neighbors, and took great interest in their lives. He was a true master of all things mechanical, fluent in the language of cars, trucks and machines in general, both new and old. He taught himself carpentry, welding, and was the home schooled equivalent of an electrician, plumber and contractor all rolled into one smiling, laughing man. He cared for his mother, Elizabeth in his own home for several decades, as well as co-parent for his niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, James when Bob was only 5, his mother Elizabeth in 2004 at the wise age of 90, and his brother James (60)2012. Bob was a man of detail and of thoroughness, he did the job right the first time, and he took great care in every project he tackled. Bob was most at home under the hood of a car, or refinishing furniture, or working on another project that allowed him to help a friend or relative and exchange both the knowledge of his experience, and the humor of his personality. He was selfless to an extraordinary degree, and rarely missed a grand-child’s sporting event, school play or music recital no matter how his health declined. This was a man wealthy in the adoration of his family, the warmth of his friends and neighbors, and the cherished memories of his own family stories. He leaves behind the great many people whose lives were enriched and improved by his presence, and he leaves all of them the blessing of his wisdom, his humor and his concern. It has been said among his family that everyone needs a Grandpa Bob in their lives, and everyone does.
