Sunday March 26, 2017, Beloved husband of 58 years to Barbara (nee Whitaker); Loving father and father-in-law to Mike (Donna), Tom (MaryBeth), Tim (Cathy), Laura, Drew (Peggy), and Jerry. Dear Grandpa to Anne, Daniel, Kevin, Drew, Abby, Zach, Michael, Mathew, John, Ellen and Jessie. Dear brother and brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday April 2nd , 12-3pm at St. Michaels gymnasium 7622 Sutherland Ave. St. Louis, MO 63119 in Shrewsbury for family and friends.
I love you Uncle Jerry and I was lucky to have you in my family. All my prayers to my Aunt and cousins and the rest of our family.
Dear Barb and family, words cannot fully express our saddness. Even tho we’ve been neighbors for many years, we got to know Jerry a little better since Jeffrey and Romel moved two doors away from you. We always looked forward to talking with Jerry as we walked around the neighborhood, and went back and forth to see our boys. Jerry had a gentle, kind spirit with a wonderful sense if humor. The neighborhood and the world is a little sadder without him in it. We are praying for Peace and acceptance for you and your family.You are in our thoughts and prayers. My heart breaks for the Smegner family. Uncle Jerry’s kindness and contagious smile will be remembered always. He will be sorely missed by many.
