Douglas J. Murphy
Douglas John Murphy succumbed to cancer at his home in St. Louis on June 23, 2017, at the age of 67; he was surrounded by loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife Cindy Murphy; daughter Kerry (Craig) Kennon; granddaughter Ryan Eudy, grandsons Nolan and Aiden Kennon; sister Karen Kreiner and Bill Lee; brother Bob (Candy) Murphy; nephews Brett (Kristin) Kreiner, Keith Kreiner, Ryan (Jen) Kreiner, and Father Robert Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ann Murphy.
Doug was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. He later earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and went on to work as a comptroller and accountant. He was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, where he regularly volunteered. He had a charitable nature and enjoyed being of service to others. Doug was a marathon runner and a member of the YMCA. He also loved boating and being near the water.
Doug was a beloved husband, friend, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. He will be forever missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 3310 S. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63118 on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a gathering and fellowship preceding the service from 9:30 – 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Pius V Catholic Church.
Doug was a good and caring person as well as my friend. My prayers and condolences to family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.
Doug was a caring and compassionate person. He did for others when they could not do for themselves. I already miss him and want his family to know how loved he was.
My spirit always lifted when I encountered Doug very kind ,loving quiet man but always willing to lend an ear if one so desired. I will miss you my friend
I always saw Doug as having a rare kind of honesty. He was very open about himself and his illness. We will miss him.
