Christopher Lane
Christopher Samuel Lane was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 27, 1965. He was one of the two sons born to Carolyn Sylvia Lane. Chris grew up in St. Louis, attending the ROTC School (formerly Cleveland High) before moving on to JobCorp. He was employed for many years with the City of St. Louis water department and then at the City of Maryland Heights, as a heavy equipment operator, before an on-the-job injury which left him unable to continue his employment there. He also became the father of Shaun Lane.
On October 3rd, 1992, Christopher married Georgedella “Della” Haynes after a long relationship.
Christopher was a warm, loving, and caring man with a gentle heart and soul. Chris loved all people and would do anything to help a person in need of help. Chris had the “Gift of Gab,” – he could talk to anyone at anytime about anything. Chris was very knowledgeable about many topics and was not afraid to voice his opinion on many issues such as church and politics.
Chris was a people’s person. Chris loved to sit and just watch people. One of his favorite places to go and people watch was any Quiktrip location. Chris was a “jack of all trades,” and always before calling a certified specialist to address the problem, Chris would make several attempts to fix the problem himself to save that mighty dollar. Chris loved the Bling-Bling and the Gold. Chris was a proud owner of the Invicta watch collection. Chris loved big things period. Big things mean just that – “BIG”. BIG as in large size flat screen tv’s, BIG speakers, radio sound systems, and BIG tires and rims. Chris loved entertaining with family and friends, hanging out at O’Fallon Park with the fellas, having barbeques, and “wrench days” when he would gather with his buddies to work on cars. His pride was his 1972 Ford Galaxy XL. He also liked watching Turner Classic Movies and listening to talk radio (his favorite radio host was Richard “Onion” Horton).
Christopher passed away on August 8, 2017 at St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Chris leaves behind to mourn his passing: his loving wife, “Della” Georgedella Haynes-Lane; his son Shaun (Lakeidra Smith) Lane; his beloved mother, Carolyn Lane; a brother, Damon Lane; grandsons, Shaun Lane, Jr., Carter Isaiah Lane and another baby boy on the way; his aunt, Dolly Quinn; as well as nieces and nephews, cousins-including Montoi Lane and many friends. He also leaves behind a special group friends that will miss him dearly; Raymond Gant, Roderick Taylor, and Arthur English.
A memorial celebration will be held for Chris on Friday, August 18th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Chapel of St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave. St. Louis MO 63103.
