Travis (Planky) Russell Scott Sr.

Travis Russell Scott Sr., aged 83, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017. He was born in DeKalb Mississippi the youngest child of Corbett and Rubye Scott. Also known as “Planky” he moved to East St. Louis, Illinois early in life and graduated from East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School. For 44 years he owned and operated Scott’s Service and U-Haul in downtown East St. Louis.

He is survived by his children Travis Russell (Lottie) Scott Jr., Janfrey (Renee) Scott, Karla (Wilbert Browning) Scott and Charla Scott Claypool. His daughter Christina Marie Scott preceded him in death. He was loving grandpa to Jason Neil Scott, Jasmine Alexis Scott, Travis Russell Scott III and Christina Lottie Scott and cherished great grandpa to Jaylah Scott, Jaydah Scott and Camden Maria Claypool.

“Planky” appreciated good food and Yuban coffee, loved jazz and enjoyed reminiscing about his days playing minor league baseball with the East St. Louis Bops. His family thanks the staff of Knollwood Retirement Community in Caseyville, Illinois for providing care, comfort and support in his last years of life.

A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday October 21 at Faith Family Church 704 N. Green Mount Rd. Shiloh, Ill 62221
