David E. Rekowski
David Rekowski, 58, of Highland, IL, born August 4, 1959 in Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, September 8 at Evelyn’s House Hospice in Creve Coeur, MO.
After David’s retirement from Laborers’ Local 42, he enjoyed attending auctions, completing the most difficult crossword puzzles, and reading about a wide variety of subjects. particularly WWII History. David was extremely athletic in his youth and his interest in sports never wavered. He enjoyed watching college hoops and football, golf, horse racing, and listening to baseball on the radio. David enjoyed all genres of music, especially the Blues. He had a “green thumb”, and was an animal lover, especially of cats, and managed to own at least one during his lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Rekowski.
Surviving are his wife, Gerri; son, John David; mother, Estelle Rekowski; brothers, Bill Rekowski (Susan) and John Rekowski (Carol); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
David will be cremated and, at his request, there will be no service.
Will miss ya, Big Dave. Thinking of Gerri, John, and the rest of the family during this time.
