James Lee Galle
James “Jim” Lee Galle, 76, passed away on December 2, 2017 in St. Louis, MO. Jim was born on August 31, 1941 in Joliet IL to the late Joseph F. Galle and the late Dorothy Joan (Slaboszewski) Galle.
Jim is survived by two siblings: one brother – Richard Galle and his wife, Mary Ann; and one sister – Joyce Cammon and her husband, Douglas Felt. Jim is also survived by eight nieces and nephews, plus fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews; and too many friends and extended family to name. (Although I do think Jim would be upset with me here if I did not mention his beloved aunt, Betty Slaboszewski, who he never failed to call on holidays, or his dear friend Laura Cannon and her sweet family – who kept a steady stream of cards arriving in Jim’s mailbox.)
Jim spent most of his life in Joliet, IL. He worked as a mail handler at the Joliet Post Office for 17+ years, but when his health started failing he moved to St. Louis to be closer to family. To quote Jim’s youngest niece: “Our Uncle Jim was often silly and sweet, and just loved being around people and making people laugh. He loved his family and the people that became his family and friends at the Little Sisters of the Poor – St. Louis Residence, where he lived for the last several years of his life. We are eternally grateful for the sisters and staff at Little Sisters of the Poor for making Jim feel so loved and giving him such an awesome environment in which to live.”
Jim was loved by all. He shared his smiles and his laughter freely. He will be missed.
There will be a private memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor – St. Louis Residence. http://www.littlesistersofthepoorstlouis.org/donations/
