Winnifred Anthes
Winnifred passed peacefully with her loving son, Joe and his family, by her side, December 12, 2017. She was 97 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Anthes Sr.; dear mother of Joe (Suzette) Anthes and stepmother of the late Bill (Susan) Anthes Jr.; dear grandmother of Luke LaBrier, Rick and Bill Anthes, and Judy (Anthes) Stasiak. Winnifred was the oldest of six children and is survived by her dear sister, Joan Barnes. She was a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Winnifred was a Nursing Supervisor at City Hospital’s Surgical Unit and Emergency Room. She was a graduate of St. Louis University School of Nursing.
Winnifred was an active member of the Union United Methodist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Epworth Children’s Home and La Clinica where she used her skills as a nurse to help with community aid. Winnifred was a world traveler. She loved camping with her family, and made sure they visited almost all fifty states. While traveling, she occasionally participated in mission work. Winnifred lived a full life and loved every minute of it. Later in life, she confessed to missing some of her favorite activities which included dancing with her husband William, horseback riding, camping and being race nurse at sports car races.

Joe- sorry to hear about your mom. She was a great babysitter! I have good memories with you and your mom & dad .
I remember Winnie as an excellent nurse and a good leader when she, her husband, and son, Joe worked the SCCA races at Wentzville. We thought of her often. Prayers to her and Joe.
