Anthony C. Barnes
Anthony Casson Barnes was born on March 11, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Booker and Olga Barnes. He was one of 9 siblings, 8 of which were born to this union. Five siblings preceded him in death.
Anthony attended St. Louis Public Schools and went on to serve in the United States Armed Forces from July 25, 1969 to July 24,1975 where he held the occupation of Firefighter. He was honorably discharged.
Anthony worked as a correctional officer for St. Louis County for over 17 years and was Assistant Supervisor for Custodial Services at Saint Louis University for 20 years.
Anthony was united in holy matrimony to Genice Marie Barnes, who preceded him in death, on October 5, 1974 in Saint Louis, Missouri. To their union was born their only daughter Angela Marie Royal (Barnes).
Anthony was a well-respected man and a father figure to many. He had a warm heart and a great sense of humor. He had a love for history, music, and there was no mistaking the love he had for God.
Anthony transitioned from his mortal life to an eternal life on Sunday, December 10, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Angela Royal (Barnes), his goddaughter Kimberly Finnie, Tonya Cooksey, Christal Brown-Baker, his sisters Michelle and Wanda Barnes, his brother Steve Barnes, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services: A Celebration of Life gathering and service will be held for him on Monday, December 18th, 2017 beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 1:00 pm at the chapel of St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis MO 63103. Following the services, graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors, where Anthony will be laid to rest alongside his late wife Genice.
