Donald T. Glaser

Donald T. Glaser- aka Thomas M Brooks aka Pit Guy aka Standup Don aka Racecar Don aka Brooksie, born on September 16, 1942, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 1, 2018.

He loved life, his family and friends, his pets, music, his truck and auto-racing. He took great joy in daily trips to the bar, hot days and a cold Busch on any day, dancing to oldies while doing dishes, traveling, reading his racing magazines and watching boring TV, oh…and old cars.

Things he didn’t like were non-driving SOBs and stereo speakers blasting rap and well, just idiots in general.

Don always had a story, a song or a joke (not always politically correct and most times dirty) that could fit any situation. His laugh was infectious his smile could warm hearts.

He loved to remember the old days at home with his brothers and sisters, his troubled youth, the racing, his friends, the racing, his time in the USMC, and did I mention the racing!

Don was so very proud of his kids, each for their own special talent and individual personalities. He loved them all. Though, to be honest, they all drove him a little nuts at times. He still considered them all successful and was glad they were in his life.

His grandkids, however, well, they could do no wrong- except when they were too loud or too messy or getting into trouble. Even then he would make excuses for them and knew they were going to make wonderful adults! He loved their enthusiasm and laughter.

Married for forty-three years, he gave love completely and, hopefully, knew how much he was loved in return. I’m sure he did, because we all know he was loved deeply. He will certainly be missed.

Survived by his wife, Terry (or Terlyn), daughter Lisa Glaser Kargus (Liz), sons Mike (Mary) Brooks, Patrick Brooks, Danny (Kim) Brooks and Jerry (Julie) Brooks. His brother Ben (Karen) Brooks. His grandchildren, Nicholas Brooks, Lyzzi (Adam) Brooks, Zoe K or Ode Kargus, Charity Brooks, Ben and Sam Brooks. Sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends- Mike, Kurt, JJ, Nancy, Jerry, Ken, David, Gene, Rod, and Al. The old Jefferson crew, Joe and the rest. The people of Shantytown, the gang at the Silver Leaf, Stans and the old Dan & AJ’s. Beloved pets, Dudley and Scout.

Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Pearl Brooks, his brother Lionel aka Porky and sister Judith, his grandson Saxon and fur babies Penny, Annie, Toby, Tuffy.

He’s going to leave a huge hole in our world and in our hearts. R.I.P. Don.

Not one for doing what everyone else thought was right, and doing things his own way, at his own request there will not be a traditional service. He wanted an old fashioned wake and everyone celebrating what he thought of as a wonderful life. So folks, that’s what it’s gonna be, we’ll raise a glass and drink to the memory of a great man.

On Sunday, February 11th, 2018 from 2pm-5pm, please join us at The Silver Leaf

(3442 Hereford St, St. Louis, MO 63139).

We will raise a glass, share some stories and remember a man who was full of life, laughter and love. He would want us to celebrate and live life to the fullest.

My mother Patricia Lamers asked me to leave her condolences. She remembers Tom quite well when her mother and Ken dated.
She is sorry you’re going through this difficult time, and praying for peace for you and your family.

Dear Terry and family, I never met you, or your family. Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed looking at your husbands photo album. What a wonderful, and beautiful idea for an obituary. My thoughts and prayers are with you. So sorry for your loss.
