Ann Loving passed away quietly in May from her returned breast cancer, exactly six years and one week after the loss of her adoring and adored husband of 41 years, F. Bryan Loving. They loved living life together.
This posting will be updated when a service can be arranged in St. Louis for out of state loved ones to also attend.
Ann had great passions in life. She was an avid dog lover and lived for playing, discussing, and watching tennis. Drawing, cultural music events, and Scrabble also called to her. Ann’s last name, Loving, and the husband who gave it to her, suited her perfectly. She was a deeply caring person who dedicated her life to helping her clients as a Licensed Professional Counselor and through her case management work.
During Ann’s later years she was deeply moved by the support of her dear friend and former colleague Jennifer Baker [TX] and her long distance friends Suzanne Glaser [DC] and Jane North [DC]. Ann’s family is indebted and forever grateful to her friends Rina Krasney, Nancy Ferguson, Harriet & Monte Ross, and Mark Margolies who eased her troubles, ran errands, shared meals, provided rides, and kept her connected in the community for her last months and years; and to Rabbi Jim Goodman for keeping her mind and spirit fortified with Torah studies following her husband’s passing.
Family: Beloved daughter of the late Minnie “Ann” and Maurey Garber. Dear sister of Jan Garber [PA]. Fond aunt of Loren Ferro (Richard) [WA], Ericka Gray (Randy) [PA], Alexandra Garber [PA], and the late Christopher Garber and her nieces’ clan of several children. Ann enjoyed visits with various cousins over the years in the NY/NJ/TX areas with whom she may regrettably have lost touch in later years: Steve Randall (Joyce) and family, Seena Newdorf (Brian) and family, Midge Winikoff; Sandy Weintraub (regrets to any of whom we are unfortunately unaware). Ann was very thankful that her canine “baby” Shelby found a new, joyful home a few years ago and continues to thrive in the care of the Crow family. Preceded in death by her canine “children” Beulah, Katzi, and Fritz – all with special places in her heart.
Friends: Ann cherished her many dear friends, dog walkers, and her most dedicated senior care assistants in St. Louis and afar who are too numerous to name. You know who you are and that you were greatly loved and treasured.
As a founding longtime member of Congregation Neve Shalom, she is remembered as a bright and shining soul who cared deeply about her friends, relatives, and clients.

Ann had an incredible enduring will and strength to meet her lifetime of medical challenges. Ann’s family truly values the hard work of her many care teams Drs. Crecilius, White, Seltzer, Yazdi, and Li and their support teams and the staff at Delmar Gardens West (particularly Jamie and Christine) and of those we may be unaware. In grateful appreciation for all the medical professionals & advances bolstering her for 80 years and enabling her to reach 84, she opted to participate in the Body Donor Program at Washington University School of Medicine St. Louis. Remains will be at rest in its Memorial Grove and recognized through a memorial bronze leaf on the lower right branch of the middle tree (http://bodydonorprogram.wustl.edu/Memorial-Grove).
