David E. Winkler

David E. Winkler (5/14/1946 – 5/16/2019)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Winkler (age 73) of Eureka, MO on May 16th 2019.

Dave was a loving Husband of 50 years to Ruthie, an amazing father to Brian Winkler, Andy (Farah) Winkler, and Kevin (Kendra) Winkler, and a joyous Grandfather to Will (19 yrs), Colton (7 yrs), and Ainsley (3 yrs).

Dave is Survived by his wife, sons, and grandchildren, as well as his siblings Chuck (Irene) Winkler, Carol Hill and Flo (Larry) Regular. He was preceded in Death by his father Charles, his mother Lorraine, and his sister Penny Pitser.

Dave was born in Ft. Wayne, In, and was an Army veteran. He met his beautiful wife, Ruthie, after his service when he started working for Magnavox. Over the years they moved to Greeneville, TN with Magnavox, Plano, TX with Texas Instruments, and then to St. Louis, MO with Apple Computer. Dave spent his working years in various technology sales roles, but always made time for his family.

His retired years were spent traveling with Ruthie and family and friends. During their travels they discovered that their “Happy Place” was the beach on Sanibel Island. They returned many times over the years to spend time together and with family. Dave also tried to spent as much time as he could on the golf course with friends form work trying to find his swing.

Above all, Dave cherished his time with his three grandchildren. Dave was often found wrestling, dancing, or just snuggling with them. He really came alive when he was around them and will always be treasured by them for the way he would do anything to make them laugh and smile.

Laughter was a large part of Dave’s life and personality. He truly enjoyed life and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all that got to know him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.

    Ruthie and family,
I wanted to tell you how sad I am about Dave’s passing. It’s been many years since Marianne, myself, you and Dave had many really great times together in Greeneville TN. I will always cherish those memories. I can still hear Dave’s laughter. I have no words to take away your pain but I pray you all eventually find peace and happiness.

    Love Randy
