Melvin Ray Ponton, 65, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, August 25, 2019, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

Melvin was born on January 15, 1954 at Carle Hospital in Champaign, Illinois to Melva and Peter Raymond Ponton. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Melva and Peter Raymond Ponton, and sister Nancy Marie Shoup.

Melvin is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Kay Shepherd (Jacob III) and son Jacob Nathaniel Shepherd IV of Newnan, Georgia, and Ruth Ann Ponton (Peter) of Chicago, Illinois.

Services have been accorded by St. Louis Cremation.
