Mildred Ilene Mayo Hobbs
Mildred “Millie” Ilene Mayo Hobbs passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2019, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Town and Country, Missouri surrounded by family.
Millie was born to Jennings Bryan Mayo and Eva Mae (Waller) Mayo on April 5, 1947, in Kinston, North Carolina. She was an only child. In 1962, Millie married Larry Hobbs and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she resided until 1993. Millie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and many other family members and friends.
Millie is survived by two daughters, Ashley Devereaux June Hill of St. Charles, Missouri, and Amy Allison Hobbs Taylor (Kevin) of Greenwood, Missouri, a son, Loren Shane Hobbs, of Independence, Missouri, and two grandchildren Brooke and Kristina Taylor of Greenwood, Missouri. Millie was a member of the Catholic Church and was baptized in Kansas City, Missouri.
Before she fell ill, Millie attended the University of Missouri St. Louis and was working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a Concentration in Photography. An avid photographer, gardener, collector and maker of art, Millie loved to go to museums, the zoo, botanical gardens, out to eat, and was always ready to capture adventures on film.
Millie was employed by the Ritz Carlton for many years until retirement. She was a valued colleague and friend to many.
Millie greatly loved her children, grandchildren, and her dog, Seti. She will be remembered by her friends and neighbors who she visited regularly during her daily walks, and by her community for her unexpected acts of kindness and compassion. She would often bake cinnamon bread for her friends, and check on her elderly neighbors.
Millie was known for her sense of style and her love of clothes, slippers, perfume, makeup, wigs, nails and “bling”. She blinged-out everything from her glasses to her pink walker with Swarovski crystals.
Millie is loved by her family and friends and will be missed greatly. May she be remembered for her sharp wit, her wicked sense of humor, infectious laughter and sense of style.
A Celebration Of Life Memorial will be held at Delmar Gardens located at 859 Country Manor Lane, Creve Coeur, Missouri 63141 at 2:00 PM on November 16, 2019.
