Clarita West

Clarita Sparks-West was born June 10, 1935. She was the third child of George E. Sparks and Bessie Lee Sparks.

She was baptized at St. Philip Lutheran Church when she was three years old.

Clarita was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools. She received training as a nurse assistant and took classes at the St. Louis Community College in Human Services.

Her years of employment include: thirty-five years at St. Louis State Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician; she was involved in a program that helped patients transition from the hospital setting to apartments or group homes; she managed apartment buildings for a realty company. After retiring from St. Louis State Hospital, she continued to work several years a St. Patrick Center with the homeless.

Throughout Clarita’s life she had various hobbies and interests such as: reading books, painting nature scenes, fishing, crocheting, macramé, growing cactuses, collecting unicorns, working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially Sunday night football.

Clarita Sparks-West transitioned from her life on earth to eternal life Tuesday morning, November 26, 2019, after being ill for a while at the age of 84 in her home.

Clarita West was preceded in death by both her parents George Sparks and Bessie Sparks; her brother and sister George Sparks (Sonny) and Delores Elston; a niece and nephews, Diana Elston, Maurice Bland and Aaron Booker.

Left to cherish her memories are: daughter, Machelle D. West, sisters: Bessie L. Carter ( Lorenzo), Charzetta Bland a fourteen of nieces, nephews: Audrey Evans, Chester Bland(Vicky) Donald Elston( Darlene), Renee Griffin, Regina Lewis (William)Wendy Boyd( Mark), Denise Weekly,( Zor) Delphine Booker, Eric Bland, Charzetta Proudie, Cline(Bill) Booker (Q. Regina), Toni Elston( Chester), John (Red)Elston( Kimberly), Dennis Booker ( Judy) a host of great, nephews, nieces other relatives and friend
