Leo Martin

Leo Oscar Martin, 75, died peacefully by his wife’s side on December 27, 2019.

He was born June 23, 1944 in Eagle Lake, Maine to Laura Ouellette, who predeceased him in 1984. He attended Presque Isle High School and Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. During his service to our country in the United States Navy he was stationed in the Mediterranean as a radioman.

After his three year service he moved to Meriden, Connecticut and eventually back to Presque Isle, Maine where he met the love of his life, Linda, at Converse Shoe factory, where they both worked. They had many unforgettable memories in their 48 years of marriage and most importantly, they had two wonderfully devoted children.

In 1984 they moved to Auburn, Maine where he readily got to fulfill his lifelong love of eating lobster. After moving to Missouri in 2001 to be a part of his grandchildren’s lives they still traveled to Bailey Island, Maine every summer so he could “get his fill” for the coming year. He was a lifelong Boston Sports fan and cheered them on throughout his life, even after he moved to St. Louis. He especially loved his Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hensler); his daughter, Stacy (Jason) Atkin of St. Louis, Missouri; his son Jason (Kirsten) Martin of Seattle, Washington and his pride and joy, his grandson, Shalen Tunstall and his granddaughter, Maya Tunstall of St. Louis. He is survived by his sister, Joanne Goslin of Presque Isle, Maine, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends he made easily in Maine and Missouri.

He was predeceased by his mother and two brothers and two sisters of Maine and Connecticut.

He will be remembered as a devoted son, husband, father, “Papa” and brother. But most of all he will be remembered as a fun loving friend who lived for family, lobster, and the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

His internment is, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where he will rest in peace.
