Teddie Vance
Theodora “Teddie” Vance – age 78, died January 19th, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness with cancer. She was born July 18th, 1941 in Memphis TN to Theodore Vance and Louise Bickers Vance. She lived most of her adult life in St Louis, MO working for Southwestern Bell and AT&T until her retirement at the end of 1998.
Teddie loved animals and was always advocating for them, whether it was for the birds and squirrels in her yard or the cats and dogs in the shelters. Her own cats were family to her and she loved to spoil them. She loved her home with the flower gardens that her mother had created. She was someone that if you complimented her on something she had, she’d offer it to you. She was just that kind of sweet and generous soul. This beautiful and vibrant ray of sunshine will be remembered for her kindness and her contagious laughter.
Teddie will be greatly missed by many family members and friends. Our deepest gratitude to those that helped Teddie in the past several months as well as the staff at Mercy Hospital and Delmar Gardens, Barnes Hospital and Barnes Extended Care and of course, at St. Mary’s where she spent her final moments. A special thank you to her dear friend Mary Beth who was at her side as she began her Eternal Journey. We love you, Teddie!
Teddie is preceded in death by her parents.
There are no plans for services at this time.
A very big hearted woman. She would give you the shirt off her back. She loved her animals passionately. RIP Teddy.
Teddie , just like her mom, always gave me confidence in myself. They made me feel I could shoot for the stars. That love that was unselfishly given , I will always keep close to my heart. I will always regret the sweet memories that time and distance has robbed from us. Teddie now has everything she ever wanted or needed. See you at the reunion Teddie! Rip
Teddie was a gentle soul who always had a smile and encouraging word. Everyone who knew her could testify she would give you the shirt off her back. She has made a difference in so many lives. Rest In peace sweet friend. I’ll see you on the other side!
Teddie was a gentle, kindhearted person who had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. I will miss all the funny jokes she used to tell me (she specialized in perfect delivery of punchlines, by the way) and laughing along with her. She cared deeply about all animals, treated them with such kindness, and loved them so dearly. She was a very giving, generous person with a beautiful soul, who thought of others before herself. Rest in peace, Teddie. I’m comforted that you will be with your dear mother once again.
Teddie was a kind and generous soul, and I will miss her terribly. Good bye my friend.
