Robert Schrader

Robert (Bob) Schrader, aged 55 years, passed away at Evelyn’s Hospice House on February 6th, 2020 at 9:45pm, with his sister Linda by his side. The amazing Bob was born to Albert Schrader and Rosemary Struckoff Schrader on May 12th, 1964. The youngest of six, his older siblings were Nancy Lorenz, Linda Schooley, Sandy Mantler, Larry Schrader, and Laura Collins. He was a beloved uncle to eleven nieces and nephews, and great-uncle to ten.

Bob grew up in a close knit family and always loved going with them on adventures to find new artifacts for his “cabinets of curiosity.” He was a wonderful dog father to two rescues pups-Scout and Atticus. The energetic pair loved “the man” and cuddled with him every night. His pups were kindly adopted by a couple through “All Paws Safe Haven.”

Bob’s positive attitude and delightful outlook on life could brighten anyone’s day. His quick wit and creativity shined through his presence both in person, and in his humorous Facebook posts.

Bob made so many wonderful friends through his travels, and even some right next door. Thanks to all Bob’s amazing coworkers who became friends he met at Catholic Supply, Crate & Barrel, Bed, Bath,& Beyond, and Total Wine & More, who threw him a beautiful benefit last year. So many selfless people joined Bob in his fight and they can never know how truly grateful he was. Thanks to Dr. Mehan and the wonderful nursing staff at Missouri Baptist Medical Center who helped Bob fight his cancer for over a year. His last summer, his friends took him on the trip of a lifetime to Paris and London where he got to see all the Harry Potter sets (a dream vacation for a wizard)!

Bob was strong willed and went out fighting right up to the very end. As a final selfless gesture, he donated his body to St. Louis University’s Center for Anatomical Science and Education. He will be forever missed in the hearts of his friends and family who were lucky to have known him. In lieu of flowers please make a donation “Evelyn’s Hospice House” or “All Paws Safe Haven.

”Memorial Service- Please come to a celebration of Bob’s life on March 7th, 2020 at 11:30am located at St. John the Baptist Church, 4200 Delor Street, St. Louis, MO 63116. All are welcome to join together to remember this wonderful man!

I was lucky to have you as my best friend back in the 80’s, Bob. We were just two goofballs going to see every brat-pack movie and every Chuck Norris film that came out. Then we’d hit up the record stores and buy the movie soundtrack. I have so many fun and amazing memories of our friendship. You were kind, selfless, funny, and no one could do the Charlie Brown dance like you. The world has lost someone so special. Thank you for being my friend.
