Mary Hediger

Mary C. Hediger (nee Margreiter) passed away Friday, February 14, 2020. Beloved wife of Ted A. Hediger. Adored mother of Erin E. Hediger, and Jeffrey Feline Hediger (Cat). Dear sister of Melanie (David) Emshoff, Missy Coday, and Dr. Martha Margreiter (Dr. Dean) Dye. Treasured sister-in-law to Margie (Jim) Young, Nancy (Steve) Burian, Pat Hug, Sherry (Mike) McCarthy, and Teresa (Mark) Amrhein. Beloved aunt, friend, and work colleague to many. Preceded in death by her father, Dr. John Margreiter, and her mother, Carol Margreiter.

Mary was born on April 22nd, 1963, in St Louis, MO. She entered the world a few minutes before her identical twin Martha. Mary grew up in Ferguson, MO, and the family moved to Chesterfield, MO in time for the start of her sophomore year at Parkway Central High School. She was active in cheerleading and swimming & diving. Mary graduated from PCH in 1981 and was awarded a scholarship to attend William Woods University, where she majored in Graphic Design with a minor in Business Administration. During her college career, Mary was an active member in her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, as well as the school’s diving team.

Following her graduation from William Woods in 1985, Mary went to work for AG Edwards & Sons. She later went on to work for the following companies: Borgmeyer & Musen Advertising, Schnucks Markets, Maritz Performance Improvement, Jordan Associates, Bonneville International, O’Connor & Partners, Zimmerman & Associates, and Sequel, LLC. Mary eventually formed her own Public Relations & Marketing Company, Big Bang Marketing Consultants in 2005, focusing her efforts promoting and providing marketing services for various not-for-profit organizations throughout the St. Louis metro area.

In 1992, Mary met Ted Hediger through mutual friends while playing volleyball for her company team, Schnucks. Mary and Ted were engaged in 1993; they wed October 22nd, 1994. Also in 1994, Mary and Ted decided to live in St. Charles, MO, and built a home. In 1996, Erin Hediger was born, and instantly became the light of Mary’s life. Mary formed her own company in part to be able to attend and support Erin in her various activities such as dancing, singing, and drama, throughout her school years and into college. In spite of being a two-time Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor, Mary had a zest for life, and a work ethic second to none. Both of these attributes have been passed on to Erin, whom Mary and Ted are very proud of. Mary was always the first to offer her help in planning reunions, work or neighborhood events, etc. She loved getting people together to enjoy each other’s company. If you were to look up the word “inclusive” in the dictionary, you would find Mary’s picture next to it. In her free time, Mary enjoyed traveling the world, being with family and friends, along with being a member in the classic rock band, Short Term Memory, alongside Ted.

Services: A Celebration of Life for Mary will take place on Saturday, February 29th. Reception will begin at 9:00 am. Service will begin at 10:30 am at Bonhomme Church, 14820 Conway Rd.
