Donna Ann Johnson
Donna Ann Johnson (Sokol) of Brentwood, MO, died Feb. 24 after a year-long battle with bile duct cancer.
She was born Oct. 22, 1948 in Chicago, IL, the oldest of three daughters of the late Anthony and Joan Sokol. She was married to the late Michael F. Johnson Sr. for nearly 40 years.
Donna was a passionate and dedicated teacher for more than 40 years. She spent most of her career teaching Psychology and Social Studies at Cor Jesu Academy where she inspired countless young women to reach their fullest potential.
Donna was a devout Roman Catholic with a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Blessed Clelia Merloni, the foundress of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is survived by three children, Tony Johnson (Katie), Mick Johnson (Erin), Rebecca Damazyn (Tim); three grandchildren, Nick and Mary Kate Damazyn, and Alexis Johnson; and two sisters, Kathy Sokol Walker (Keith), and Mary Jo Sokol Cancila (Jack). She was loving cousin, aunt and friend to many who will miss her kindness and generous hugs.
A scholarship fund is being set up in her name at Cor Jesu Academy. Donations can be made by sending contributions to the school at 10230 Gravois, 63123.

Donna will be missed. Went to Bishop Dubourg with her and she was a great gal. Can’t believe she is gone.
One of my first friends at Bishop DuBourg whose locker was by mine. Devoted Cavalier who always smiled, cheered hard and maintained a positive attitude.
Donna and I lived next door to each other growing up in Maplewood. Mike Johnson and I roomed together while we worked at SLMPD. Donna was a wonderful gal and great mother. She will be missed by many. Good bye Donna.
Donna and I were classmates at Immaculate Conception Grade School in Maplewood and at Bishop DuBourg High School. She was a giving person and the enthusiasm she displayed as a Cavalier cheerleader at DB continued as an encouraging educator. Condolences to her children and sisters.
I met Donna and her family prior to their wedding to my cousin Mike. Over the years we visited occasionally and Donna kept Mike anchored, which was never an easy task.
When Mike and Donna dated she would listen to the police scanner whenever he was on duty. On a visit to St. Louis prior to their marriage, I asked Donna why and she stated that she wanted to know he was safe. When I asked the same question over the years she would not answer if she listened to the scanner with a smile.
I just found out about Donna’s passing and want to give my sympathy to Tony , Mick , Rebecca and their families.

I just found out about Donna’s passing. I will always remember her passion about AP Psychology and eating cake in honor of Harry Truman’s birthday. She will be missed.
