Minnie Steward

Minnie Steward passed away on April 13th, 2020 she lived the life of a pioneer and gained a host of spiritual family and friends. She regular pioneered for 18 years from 1981-1998.

Minnie Steward was born on November 15,1935 in Hamilton, GA Harris County to her parents Willie James Sr. and Audrey Walker. She was the third out of four children. She moved to St. Louis when she was 13 years old. She attended grade school in Hamilton, GA and attended Sumner High School in St. Louis, MO. She worked as a housekeeper by trade and retired in 1996. Minnie got married to Laurel H. Morrow and had 5 children together.

She was baptized on October 10, 1961 in Peoria Illinois. Minnie went to a District Convention in the summer of 1961 in Springfield, Illinois. When the brother asked everyone to bow their heads to say prayer to Jehovah. She looked up, then around for Jehovah but she could not see him. Then she said in her heart. If these people have this much respect for someone they cannot see, this must be the truth. She went home and asked her husband can she get baptized. From that time until now four generations of relatives have followed her example and came to be baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Minnie’s first contact with the name Jehovah happened when she was a child. She walked in, at the end of a conversation between her mom and her aunt. She overheard her mother say to her aunt, “Don’t you ever mention that name in my house again”. Years later my mom reason that the name her mother was talking about was the name Jehovah. Mom did not here that name again until she was baptized.

Survived by her brother Robert Walker, 3 Sister-in-laws Yvonne Walker, Mary Jean Moon, Betty Walker and 3 sons: Wade, Robert and Donald Morrow and 2 daughters: Audrey Morrow and Cheryl Williams. Survived by 17 Grandchildren: Franswa, Dorian, Nennicia, Kory, Anya, Michael, Tony, Earl, Amber, Cari, Craig Jr. Victoria, Alison, Chasity, Chris, Khalil, Jabria. Survived by 20 Great Grandchildren and hosts of cousins as well as other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in dead were: Willie James Walker Jr. (Brother) James Carl Morrow (Brother-In-Law), Mattie George Walker (Sister), Laurel (Son), Samuel Keith (Son), Latonya (Granddaughter)
