Mary Susan Halbert

Mary Susan “Sue” Halbert, 70, passed away at home in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday May 4, 2020 at the age of 70.

Sue was born on September 20, 1949 in South St. Louis City to George and Geraldine Krazter (nee Emling). She was one of 5 children. Sue attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and Bishop DuBourg Catholic schools.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents. She was the loving mother of Wendy Sanders, Jim (Megan) Halbert, Matt Halbert and Katie (Dennis) Veltri; cherished grandmother of Ben and Emma Sanders, Dylan, Dominic and Delilah Veltri; beloved sister of Wally (Joan) Kratzer, Jim (Allyn) Kratzer, Georgie (Jerry) Buchanan and Ginny (Carl) Schorle; dear lifelong friend of Sharon (Tony) Calcaterra. She was also a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Sue was an avid baker known for her trademark desserts like cream puffs and surprise cupcakes. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, watching tennis matches with her favorite player, Rafael Nadal, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and children.

Sue adored her Shih-Tzu, Bella, who has been lovingly adopted by her granddaughter Delilah with the help of her parents.

Memorials may be made in Sue’s name to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louis, an organization for which Sue held great appreciation.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were no services for Sue at the time of her death. Instead, a Celebration of Life for Sue will be held on her birthday September 20, 2020.
