Vondetta Marie Brock
Vondetta Marie Brock died June 10, 2020 in St. Louis, MO.
Von was born November 5, 1963 in Lawrence, Kansas to Otis John Gulley and Joyce Mae Gulley. Von was born second to a big, loving family. In 1970 they moved to the Boonville, Missouri area.
A daddy’s girl from the start, she loyally followed her faithful parents’ example, and dedicated her life to Jehovah God on March 27, 1977, though she’d say that was her second time (as her mom was pregnant with her on her baptism day in 1963), along with her older brother, John. Her next important day was September 1, 1982 when she began her regular pioneer ministry. She faithfully sacrificed her time each month dedicating 90 plus hours in sharing the kingdom good news with others more than 20 years. She loved people and was dedicated to helping as many to find happiness and Bible truths. During that time, she met her husband, Michael Brock. They found love and married on November 21, 1987. They lived together in Boonville, Columbia, and St. Louis. They adopted a beautiful little baby girl, Taylor, in 1994. Four years later, in May of 1998, they were surprised with a bouncing baby boy, Michael, Jr.
Von cared diligently and tirelessly for all of her family, immediate and extended. She was at our mom’s bedside until she died in April of 1990. She visited our brother, Otis, during his final moments, so he wasn’t alone, until his death in 2008. She also made sure to be there for our brother, Aaron, during his last days of his life in 2012. She visited Cecilia (our sister in law) during a health crisis every day in 2004, keeping her company during the day while Johnny worked, driving her little car until it could drive no more. Von was loyal to all her family but most importantly to her God, Jehovah. She was funny, generous, self-sacrificing, and truly a friend that everyone wanted to have in their corner.
Von is survived by her husband, Michael, Sr., her daughter, Taylor, her son, Michael, Jr. Her father, Otis Gulley, her step-mother, Alveda Gulley, a brother, John Gulley, a sister(in-law), Cecilia Gulley, another sister, Janice Hopke, brother-in-law, Aaron Hopke, another brother, Timothy Gulley, a step-brother, Alvin Gulley, and a step-sister, Aleda Carroll, 7 grandchildren, Aaliyah, Orion, Mia, Max, Qu’dyr, and a set of twins, and 19 nieces and nephews. Von was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Gulley and two of her brothers, Aaron Gulley and Otis Gulley.
It is difficult to summarize the life of our beautiful sister that shared so much with us all, but if you knew her she gave whatever she had to you-her time, love, and heart. Von is safe in Jehovah God’s memory and we all can’t wait for Jehovah to call her name (Job 14:14,15) so that we can see her again and enjoy all that made her the wonderful woman that we know her to be.
My condolences to the Brock and Gulley families. There are no words that can be spoken to ease the heartache you are feeling at this time. Just know that the Darin Walker Family is sorry for your loss. Von was a classmate of mine during our elementary and secondary education. She was a kind soul, most always with a smile. She always took the time to say hello when ever our paths crossed. She will be missed
I didn’t know Von real well personally but I have come to know many of her family members who are all very loving and giving as well. The pictures really show that about all of the Gulley family…very sweet and very happy. Just like soon to be forever and ever without end in only a very little while longer. Then I will meet Von for the first time without her wheel chair and I can’t wait to see that feeling of being released a prisoner from a wheelchair and running to the arms of her family and hearing her screaming with joy “momma, daddy, family, kids, we made it and I can walk! Jehovah has set us free!”
Our condolences n prayers to the Brock and Gulley families. So sorry for your loss. It’s very nice meeting Von shes a fighter, always smiling very encouraging to talk too… See you in paradise Von.❤

Dear Mike and Family, We are Deeply Saddened our Heartfelt Condolence to You and All the Gulley’s.Watching the lovely video reminded me of so many fond memories being around Von in Kansas City and Boonville. I can remember Von as a little girl with a large vocabulary very inquisitive, and as a young Pioneer very zealous, as a Wife so happy as a Mother so proud!

We love the Gulley family!! Back in the day at the assemblies and pioneer meetings Von and I would seek each other out and I always felt a good connection. She was so loyal and loved her family and it poured out to her spiritual family as well. And no matter what Von always looked so put together and beautiful. I’ll miss you sister! But not for long because “it’s just around the corner”!
