Lester Louis Bodensted, age 88, died peacefully at home July 4th, 2020.
Les was born September 1, 1931 to Lester and Loretta Bodensted of St. Louis, MO where he also grew up with his brother, Kenneth Bodensted.
He was the beloved father of Lynn Bodensted, Barb (Tim) Miller, Robert (Mary Kay) Bodensted; loving grandfather of Matthew (Megan) Miller, Robert Miller, and Joshua (Elyse) Albert; loving brother-in-law of Richard Thompson; loving brother of the late Kenneth (Ruth) Bodensted; loving brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Les began working at Western Electric (AT&T) in 1950 where he worked for more than 37 years. It was there that he met the absolute love of his life, Lois, whom he married in May of 1956. They went on to raise their three children in a very loving, happy home. Together they spent the next 61 years until Lois’ passing in 2018.
Les loved spending time with family and friends, fishing and baking cookies. For over four decades, he and Lois spent many happy times at Bennett Springs. It was a time of relaxation, making new friends, gathering with old friends and spending time with family. One of Les’ greatest joys was his annual fishing trip with his son, son-in-law and his grandsons.
A service and interment of ashes will be held Wednesday, July 15th at 10:00am, St. John’s Cemetery, 1293 St. Cyr Road, St. Louis, MO.

My deepest sympathy to all of Les’s family. I enjoyed spending time with both your Mom and Dad at Bennett. After your Mom passed away I got to know your Dad by playing cards with him and Rich and Joy Hunt. He was always very positive and fun to be with but I know he missed Lois very much. They will both have a place in my prayers and heart forever.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. Les was a great friend and neighbor to my parents and many others. He features so prominently in childhood memories made while growing up in Dellwood. It seems like I was at your house almost as much as I was at mine! I’m so sorry I’m not able to attend the service but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Lynn, Barb, and Bobbie, So sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. What a great guy he was. I remember many happy times in his presence. He was a great friend to my parents. As an adult, I remember spending many Christmas Eve’s at your house , indulging in the feast put on by your parents and then playing rob your neighbor. I know your dad is in his glory being reunited with your mom. I’m sure our parents along with the DiRocco’s are having a great time reuniting up in heaven. Oh, the stories they can tell! Bodensted family, we are so sorry for your loss, Les was always so kind, helpful, gentle & caring to anyone who crossed his path, he truly will be missed. Thanks for sharing your parents with us, they always could put a smile on our faces & your dad was truly a constant for my dad.
Joy & Rich will miss your dad tremendously, they talk about Les all the time. We have known your parents for a very long time, they watched all four of us girls grown up, get married, have kids, then watched the cycle again, our kids got married & now have kids especially at Bennett Springs. I just remember one particular memory & every time I saw Les, he’d say how’s that daughter of yours – she always scared me when she’d climb up the porch & look over the top of the trailer & wave hi to Lois & me. Such great times together along with everyone else who lived on the circle, thank goodness we can hold our memories & my parents (lucky to still have them with us) will recall many of them often.
So sorry that during this difficult we will not be able to support you & attend the service today. We will always remember your dad on the 4th of July. Rest in Peace Les as you are reunited with Lois & many of your friends.
