Janet Becker

Janet (Jan) Louise Becker, 75, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2020. She was born on September 26, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry John and Nancy Jane Becker (nee Hertzing) both whom preceded her in death.

Janet graduated from McCluer High School in 1963 where she participated in numerous women’s athletics. She attended Sanford Brown Business School and earned her Associate’s Degree in bookkeeping. For more than 40 years, Janet served as a bookkeeper for multiple automobile dealerships and retired from Jim Lynch Toyota.

Janet was a dedicated recreational softball and volleyball player for more than 25 years and took up umpiring for softball after she hung up her cleats as a player. She thoroughly enjoyed attending as well as watching on television St. Louis Cardinals and never passed up an opportunity to attend a game.

She was a living example of her Christian upbringing serving as the primary caregiver of her mother and continued giving her time and treasure to her family until the end. She never passed up a family gathering or the chance to attend any family member’s game or competition – always with a smile and encouraging word.

Janet was a proud member of the Progress Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a longtime member of Immanuel United Church of Christ participating in the Women’s Fellowship for many years.

Janet is survived by her brothers and their wives: Ken and Patricia Becker and Bob and Paulette Becker, 5 nieces and nephews: Jeff (Paula) Becker, Doug (Christine) Becker, Julie (Tom) Donnelly, David (Leah) Becker and Jeanne (Jeff) Whitworth, 9 great nieces and nephews: Adam (Sarah) Becker, Rachel Becker, Claire Donnelly, Abigail Donnelly, Mary Becker, Janie Becker, Trent Becker and Jovie Whitworth and Jacey Whitworth. Janet was elated when Jacey was born on her birthday and they remained birthday buddies until the end. Janet loved taking care of her dogs, Sassy and Annie who both preceded her in death. Janet was a devoted friend to many.

A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date.
