Rick Nelson

Rick Nelson passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at home surrounded by family after battling kidney cancer. He was 52 years old.

Beloved husband of Kathy Nelson, loving father of Joanna and Rachel; dear son of the late Ray Nelson and Joan Williams; brother of Ray Gilbert (Joyce) Nelson, Robert (Rita) Nelson and Richard (Angela) Foster; dear uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

Rick graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He continued his education and received an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University. Rick was a 28-year employee of Pfizer Corporation where he leaves many friends. He was also an active member of Manchester United Methodist Church and Cool Dell Swim and Tennis Club. Rick enjoyed carpentry, camping and travel and was extremely generous with his time and talents. His fun-loving spirit will be missed by many.

    In life, you were my younger brother, a gentle giant. You set the highest of standards as husband, father, and son, but to me you will always be brother and friend. I will see you again in His Kingdom, and we will rejoice together once more.

    I worked with Rick for almost 13 years. He was a brilliant man, and many of the processes and facilities that we have today are because of his efforts. I had the opportunity to see him with his wife and children several times. It was obvious he was a very gentle and caring father and husband. He left us far too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
