Madeleine Marie (Lyons) Hauschild

Madeleine Marie (Lyons) Oatman Hauschild gained eternal peace July 1, 2020. She was born November 24, 1939, in St. Louis, MO to Thomas I. Lyons and Marie Madeleine (D’Aquila) Lyons.

Her young life was colored by loss creating a strong, tenacious woman. Highly intelligent, she received her GED and worked at Southwestern Bell. This would start a career spanning 45 years providing phone service. She loved her children deeply and raised them to the best of her ability. She broke the cycle of cold and unaffection with hugs and “I Love Yous”. She loved flowers, butterflies, Chase and Sanborn Coffee and her guilty pleasure was making the sound of a straw slurping at the end of a drink. She was shy but when she made friends, they were lifelong.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy A. Lyons; father, Thomas I. Lyons; mother, Marie M. Lyons; sister, Patricia A. (Lyons) Haines; and best friend, Barbara J. Allen.

She is survived by her four children: Leonard C. Oatman, Michael T. Oatman, Paul A. Thomas, and Terri L. (Hauschild) Hall; grandchildren: Andrea C. (Oatman) Maloney, Robin S. (Oatman) Strahm, Norman Michael “Mikey” Sonntag, Erika R. Greenlee, Thomas D. Fults III, James B.V. Hall; great-grandchildren: Logan Reid and Cecilia J. Strahm; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

In her continuance of dedication to animal rescue, donations may be made to Open Door Animal Sanctuary in her memory. Donate here: https://odas.org/donate/

Vaya Con Dios, Mama.
