Sara J. Crump
Sara Joan Crump, Ed.D, age 74, passed away October 21 from the China Covid-19 virus. No funeral. Thank you Chairman Xi. Several charities are listed at the bottom if you’d like to donate in lieu of flowers.
Sara taught 2nd and 3rd grade children at Kratz School in the Ritenour District for 30 years. Between her 800 plus students and her scottie dogs, Sara led a full and productive life.
Her parents, Vivian and Jesse Denniston, raised her with good conservative values which ultimately attracted her husband Jerry. Together, they enjoyed over 50 years of mostly happy and productive years in the St. Louis\St. Charles area.
Sara loved her summer trips with her teacher friends and together they explored many European countries and other places of interest. Sara’s church played a big part in her life, and until the last few years attended every Sunday as well as various activities during the week. She valued her P.E.O. (a philanthropic organization) sisters, and was awarded a rare 50 year State Chapter Certificate of membership. Sara was truly a Scottie dog lover, and Scottie Rescue is where her beloved Scotties came from. If interested in helping this cause in Sara’s memory, checks can be sent to STLSTR, 7125 W. Sara will be missed by everyone who touched her life, most of all, her husband who knows Sara was without a doubt, the best thing in his life. Some type of memorial will be held once this pandemic is under control and back in China.
Sara was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. I have so many great memories of time spent with her and Jerry; time spent enjoying life on some kind of adventure and enjoying each other’s company. She is dearly missed and after the China virus is gone, I look forward to celebrating her life.
I will miss so much our days spent together. You have been a wonderful sister and aunt. You have touched lives and influenced many. Your life was well lived. I love you.

Sara.. my cousin, my friend, and truly a “sister”. We shared so much along this life journey. We had many wonderful times with the funniest crew of relatives ever assembled. Sara was a beautiful soul, who had a positive attitude about life. She influenced so many students over her 30 year career; many of those girls and boys received their only hugs and loving from their teacher, Mrs. Crump. She will be missed by many. Goodbye, my friend.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Sara. We met Sara and Jerry 17 years ago when we both moved into our homes in Dunmore Place.

I knew Sara from teaching at Kratz School. She was very kind, calm and compassionate when working with my special education students. I was also on one of those cruises to Alaska with her and a bunch of other teachers. We had a wonderful time seeing and exploring our beautiful 50th state. May memories of her be a blessing to family and friends.

I only knew Sara briefly but she was such a source of love and light.
My husband, Larry, and I had many fun trips with Sara and Jerry. We belonged to the Miata Club with them and went on many small trips as well as cruise to the Bahamas, and trip to Cancun. Sara didn’t care much for New Orleans! Our thoughts and prayers are with Jerry.
What a shock – it was about a year ago that we were all having dinner at Del Pietros. We love and miss Sara and will never forget her story about the snake in the garage. Also when the girls got together for lunch, one of Sara’s favorite dishes was pumpkin pancakes – she made a believer out of Jerre. Our prayers to Jerry and family.
I was so sad to hear about Sara’s passing! She was such a wonderful person and my family and I have always enjoyed visiting with Sara and Jerry. Our love and prayers are sent to Jerry and the whole family and if there is anything we can do, please let us know! Sara was truly one of the righteous among the nation. She will definitely be missed.

I was one of Dr Crumps students at Kratz in, I want to say, 96. Got an urge to look people up and am very saddened to hear she passed. I remember her love of scotties and her encouraging my love of reading. As a class we read “The Mouse and the Motorcycle” and she let me sit in her chair at the front of the class. She probably sensed I was a lonely kid. She must’ve left her mark on me for me to remember so many years later. All my condolences to her friends and family.
