Anne B. Steen
Anne B. Steen
Anne Bretnall Steen, 72, of Fenton, MO passed away peacefully on November 20, 2020 in the presence of family. Anne was born March 27, 1948 in Princeton, NJ to William B. and Katharine Bretnall. Anne married Robert E. Steen in Plainsboro, NJ on June 20, 1970 and together they raised three wonderful girls. Anne and Bob celebrated 50 years of marriage this June surrounded by all their children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and the Baker family.
After over 20 years of service, Anne retired from Kirkwood School District in 2011. She graduated from Princeton High School and Ithaca College (’70) with a degree in Physical Education. She was an elementary school physical education teacher before starting a family.
Anne is survived by her older brother, William Bretnall of Avon Lake, OH, her husband, Bob Steen of Fenton, MO, and her children: Cory Letchworth (William), Fenton, MO, Jessica Calvert (Ryan) of Springdale, OH, and Heather Lind (Eric) of Colorado Springs, CO. Her eight grandchildren called her Nana.
Anne’s life centered on family, keeping in close touch with her daughters by telephone, by visits and by computer. At 18 years of age she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. For those who knew her, she was an example of courage, fortitude, and perseverance. She was very appreciative of the healthcare professionals who assisted her in living a long and productive life. She is wonderfully remembered and missed by her family and friends. A celebration of her life will take place out of doors this spring, her favorite season of the year.
Love, love, love, love, love. Always.
