Helen Sydow Clark (Schaefer) passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2020, from complications due to Congestive Heart Failure and COVID-19. She was 82. Helen is survived by her sister Marlene Ahrens, daughters Alice and Helen (Megan) Sydow, step children Tim Clark and JoAnn Cueva, four grandchildren (Cole, Caroline, Cate & Connor), and a myriad of extended family and friends.

Helen was born on April 18, 1938, to a large German Irish Catholic family. Helen was the fifth of seven siblings (Joseph, John, June, Harry, Charles, and Marlene). Helen was a proud graduate of St. Louis City Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1959 and was an active member of the Alumni. She went on to have a long career in nursing.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Toby” Sydow in 1991 and Noel Clark in 2016. Helen always said her greatest accomplishment was raising her two girls and she loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, playing a mean game of Dominos, and she rarely missed her daily meal at Miss Sheri’s Cafeteria in South County.

A celebration of life to honor Helen’s life will take place Saturday, June 26, from 9:30-12p.
