Raymond E. Stoltz
Ray Stoltz, 89, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed peacefully away at Laclede Groves from Covid-19 complications on January 23, 2021. He was born on April 7, 1931 to the late Rupert and Helen Stoltz. Loving husband of the late (Virginia) Grace Stoltz. Beloved father of Diane Grubbs (David), Vicki Hartnett (Tom) and Julie Sadeghi. Dear grandpa of Karen Gulick (David), Christopher Grubbs (Emily), Erin Moore (Chris) and Megan Hartnett. Special great grandpa of Alex and Ben Gulick and Finley and Madeline Moore.
Ray was a Korean War Air Force veteran and a 40-year retiree from McDonnell Aircraft Corporation. His career at McAir began in manufacturing and advanced to Outside Production Quality Assurance, including the F/A 18 Quality Program. He was a respected employee, co-worker, manager and friend to many over the years. Ray was also a self-employed insurance agent. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles and former Our Lady of Loretto Men’s Club.
Ray particularly enjoyed anything airplane related, traveling, trout fishing, football, politics, planting impatiens, the Missouri Botanical Garden and salty Gus’ Pretzels. He was a dedicated caregiver to Grace as her health declined and never stopped missing her in the 4 1/2 years after she preceded him in death. It is a great comfort to know that they are now reunited in God’s Kingdom.
The family is deeply grateful to all of the wonderful caregivers at Laclede Groves. Their kindness, compassion, love and excellent care of Ray, especially during this pandemic, will never be forgotten.
Services: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, services will be private with interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Missouri Botanical Garden or the Laclede Groves LCH Lenten Benefactor Fund, 723 S Laclede Station Rd, St Louis, Mo. 63119.
Enjoyed working with Ray at MCAIR in Quality Engineering. He was a dedicated worker who always made sure a problem was properly corrected. Ray will be missed.
I worked with Ray during the early days of my career at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. The shenanigans we shared in those early days are fondly recalled. RIP

To the Stoltz family, I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to visit him due to the virus. I think back of all the good times we had as neighbors on Jenner lane. Ray was such a good guy and always willing to help me with anything I needed. He knew how to fix anything that came up at my house. We spent many nights just hanging out and talking. We are all better for having known Ray and Grace. Our neighborhood is now gone except for me but i’ll Always remember the Stoltz’s next door. I’m sure you are pleased that Ray and Grace are now together forever. May God bless you all.
