Peggy Jo Moeckel

Peggy Jo Moeckel (nee Jones) went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 with family members at her side. Peggy Jo is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Forrest R. Moeckel; sons Rick (Debbie), Andy (Lynn) and Steve (Anne); grandchilden Kate (Kory) Kasten, Chris (Nicki) Moeckel, Julie (Jordan) Janes, Robert Moeckel, Evelyn Moeckel; great-grandchildren Jonathan & Zoe Kasten, Lily Janes, and Olivia Moeckel.
Peggy Jo will be missed by her extended family and friends with whom she kept in close contact to the end. She treasured exchanging handwritten letters and Christmas cards to and from cousins and dear friends, and enjoyed reading about every detail of their lives. Sharing a cup of coffee with friends new and old, and having lunch with her childhood friends each month brought her great joy. Peggy never passed up a chance to share her friendly smile and to ask you how you were doing. Her God-given gift of hospitality was offered freely to her church family and to neighbors; she was always ready to drop what she was doing and spend time with friends. Peggy was known for her generous gift of candies and cookies that she made throughout the year for Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church staff and preschool teachers — just to let them know that they were appreciated. Her involvement with the Women’s Guild and the Care Group at Mt. Calvary extended over decades, and gave Peggy many opportunities to serve the Lord.
In Peggy’s home, you will see many photographs of her children and grandchildren which she was quick to point out to visitors. She loved being surrounded by the memories that family photos evoked. An especially favorite of hers was the framed set of baby pictures of her boys: Rick, Andy and Steve. It hangs in her bedroom and she saw it each day she awoke.
More than anyone, Peggy will be missed by her devoted husband, Forrest. Without a doubt, they were a match made in heaven! Their love and respect for one another was an example that all couples should follow who want a model of what God intended for a marriage. Peggy would dote over Forrest with fresh coffee every morning as the two of them would plan their day.
Her family takes solace in knowing that Peggy is dancing in heaven with the Lord. No more pain, no more worries, no more challenges! Her final prayer for each of us is that we, too, would have a personal relationship with Jesus and find the peace that she knew well.
Visitation will be Monday April 10th, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Brentwood from 4:00 to 6:00 followed by a memorial service, and then dinner. (Her favorite foods will be served: fried chicken, orange floats and popcorn for dessert) Seriously.

This obituary is beautiful. She is dancing in heaven. She will always be with you. Talk to her and tell her what you are thinking. She will always be your wife, mother, friend. She just crossed over to the other side and the distance between here and there is but a whisper. God bless you all and peace be with you.

I was sorry to see Peggy’s obituary in Sunday’s paper. Forrest, I know you and your family will miss her terribly, but I also know that you will see her again in heaven. She will be spending Easter with our risen Lord and the angels. God’s blessings. Shirley Van Leer
