DALE GENE DRURY

JUNE 6, 1941 TO AUGUST 20, 2017

Dale Gene Druy age 76 of Ballwin, MO passed Sunday afternoon August 20, 2017 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital.

Dale was born in Kirkwood, MO June 6, 1941, the son of Lawton P. and Eunice E. (De Rousse) Drury. Dale served in the United States Army and Reserves from September 1959 through July 1967.

April 30, 1983 Dale and Shirley Ann Clanton (Chambers) were united in marriage. God blessed them with a very deep love for 35 years. They found a happiness that was unexplainable. Dale was the kind of father that his love extended beyond blood. He gave his love freely to raise Shirley’s son, Eric L. Clanton. Shirley and Dale were blessed with another son, Darren G. Drury, which made their family complete. He loved his boys more than the world!

Dale enjoyed life!! First was his family, next his feeding the deer, hunting, camping, vacationing, motorcycling, telling stories and teaching his trade.

Work was Dale’s life. He took over his father’s trade in 1981. He loved teaching his young men about being a carpenter. One of these young guys explained Dale as follows: “Being a carpenter is more than just being capable of doing the work. It is to never forget you’re in someone’s home and that’s where everyone’ dream start! Dale taught pride, integrity and trust were the first skills needed as a carpenter. Dale was the best of the best in his trade and was always practicing to be better. Now we understand why Jesus was a carpenter.” This is why Shirley is a carpenter’s wife.

Dale is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his sons Eric Clanton and Darren Drury of Ballwin, MO. His daughter, Kristina D. Drayton (Mark) of Maryland Heights; seven grandchildren: Lance, Emma and Sophia Clanton; Ryan, Jake, Luke and Brooke Drayton. Also, survived by his brother, Lawton P. Well, Dale was a customer of mine at a construction supply location for several years. I hadn’t heard from him in a while, and I knew he was having some medical issues for a while so I figured I would just google his name hoping not to find what I just have. All of us at Wholesale Siding Depot send our deepest condolences. We will definitely miss our conversations with Dale. He was surely a person that could tell a vivid story. Again, we are sorry for the families loss, but are thankful you shared him with us… Tom
