Jerome Matthew Madison

October 12th, 1942 –  May 9th, 2023

Jerome Matthew Madison, dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away on May 9th 2023.
Born October 12, 1942, Jerome (affectionately known as Jery) was born in the City of St Louis Missouri. He attended St Louis Public Schools and was employed with the same school district (SLPS) for 30 plus years until retirement.
His interest and talents were vast and varied. He was always reading and learning new things. Jerome was intrigued by technology and mechanics. Outside of work, you could find him rebooting a hard drive, rebuilding a camshaft, or researching new tax legislation.
Anyone who knew, Jerome knew he was a supportive husband, a protective brother, loving father, and the friend you could always count on. He was kind, generous, and compassionate Even when he may have spoken in anger, he was often first to apologize and try to heal what was broken. He believed in fairness, loyalty, and dignity. When faced with the concept of tough love, he applied it with a firm but non-demeaning heart. He was immensely independent and private. Overall, Jerome loved his entire family despite any quirks or dysfunction. He worried about them, he rooted for them, protected them, resented them, forgave them, and yet always kept on loving them to the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Mildred and Otho Henderson).
Jerome is survived by his wife, life partner, and companion for more than 40 years: Rosemary Norwood, children :Jerry Madison, Tyrone Madison, Dina Webber, Anthony Norwood (Detra), and JeMar Madison, his siblings: Jean Britton, Carolyn Waren, Jacqueline Carr (Melvin) Gregory Walton (Betty), Patricia Pruitt, Adolphus Pruitt, Delphine Pruitt, Antoine Walton and Pamela Henderson, his Mother-in-law: Wiley Vee Brown, several brother/sister-in-laws, and a host of great/grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
This gentle giant will be desperately missed by all those that he has left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. He was one of a kind and to be loved by him was to be truly blessed.
A “Celebration of Life” gathering will be held on Friday May 19, 2023 @ The Warehouse Banquet Hall (located at 11833 New Hallsferry Rd. Florissant Missouri) from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (The family would appreciate that any flowers or floral arrangements be dropped off to this location prior to the start of the gathering.)

Rosemary, may God comfort you in your grief at this time. When Jerry Dina & I prayed for Jerome’s peace on the evening of May 9th, know that you were also in our prayer. To my niece Dina and my nephews Jerry & Tyrone May the joys that my brother in law gave us remain in our hearts forever. Blessing to all that loved this special soul.

My uncle Jerome will certainly be missed. Jerome was a caring and supportive uncle to me and always gave good advice. He had jokes and if you said something he didn’t care for he gave you this look, LOL!! Sending prayers and condolences to Rosemary, Dina, Tyrone and Jerry please comfort them and all the sibilings, grandchildren and friends. Rest In Heaven Uncle Jerome
