Patricia Moorman Sims
Patricia Moorman Sims, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 68.
Born on December 18, 1956, in Miami, Florida, Patty grew up in the warmth of the South Florida sun, attending Our Lady of Lourdes Academy and graduating in 1974. Though she was unable to attend her 50th reunion this past year, her classmates rallied around her, a testament to the deep and lasting friendships she nurtured. She went on to graduate from the University of Miami, where she was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and where she met her husband, Tom.
Patty dedicated her life to nurturing others, both in her vocation as a teacher and in the way she cared for her family and friends. She had a boundless zest for life—always smiling, laughing, and cherishing every moment. She poured her heart into causes that mattered, from her work with the Assistance League in Atlanta to her time volunteering at Interfaith Assistance Ministry in Hendersonville, NC. She loved to paint and sew, and many family and friends across the Southeast treasure the t-shirt quilts she made for them.
Her greatest joy, though, was her family. Patty and Tom shared 45 years of marriage, a partnership built on love, resilience, and an unspoken understanding. She was the social spark, he the steady anchor—different in many ways, yet perfectly balanced. Through highs and lows, they remained each other’s constant. As a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, she was a light in the world—offering unconditional love, wisdom, and a listening ear—though, let’s be honest, she did just as much talking as listening. Whether it was a quick check-in that turned into an hour-long chat or daily calls with her mom and sister, she never missed a chance to share a story, a laugh, the details of her day, or a full rundown of the latest family news. In recent years, spending time with her five grandchildren brought her endless joy; their laughter was her favorite sound.
Patty’s faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted Catholic, she found strength and peace in her beliefs, carrying herself with grace and resilience through life’s joys and trials. This past year tested her in unimaginable ways, yet she faced every challenge with courage, resilience, and determination, often more concerned for others than for herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jeanne Ann Moorman. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom; her children, David (Jessica), Stephanie (Dave), and Teddy (Maggie); and her five treasured grandchildren, Samantha, Dani, William, Luke, and Eleanor. She also leaves behind her five siblings, Bob Jr., Steve, Maryann, Mike, and John, as well as extended family and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
Patty’s legacy is one of love, faith, and joy. She showed us how to live fully, laugh often, and cherish the people around us. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the gift of her life and the love she shared so freely.
A funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church on Friday, March 28 at 1 p.m. in Dunwoody, Georgia (her home parish for more than 20 years) followed by a reception at Dunwoody Nature Center, North Woods Pavilion.
