Wanda Pfeiffer

Wanda in swimsuitWanda Pfeiffer (nee Luehrmann) of St. Louis, age 80, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014.

Born in Oxly, MO, in January 1934, to Levi and Fannie Luehrmann, she is survived by her brother Kenneth (Buddy) Luehrmann; her five children: Gene, Julie (Anthony), Laura (Jeff), Tom and Erica; eight grandchildren: Anthony, Will, Elizabeth, Ben, Robert, Amelia, Julia and Rachel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Maxine Luehrmann Shelton in 1999.

Wanda enjoyed spending time with her family, touring English historical sites, reading thrillers and mysteries, and caring for the babies and children that flocked to her. She graduated from Soldan Blewett High School in 1952, and lived in Rolla, Chicago and Cincinnati before returning to St. Louis. Her family will miss her patience, empathy, intelligence, biting wit and calming presence.

A private wake will be held in her honor. Wanda believed in putting others first, so in lieu of flowers she would have preferred donations to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
