Dural Thurston Greene, 1932-2016.

Born August 24, 1932 in Brotherton, TN. He was the son of Jimmie Green (millwright) and Dorothy Qualls (homemaker) and oldest of 5 children. Dural spent his early life in the mountains of Tennessee. Life took his mother and father to St. Clair Shores, MI when Dural was 9. He attended school through the 8th grade.

The Korean War led him to be drafted in 1954 to serve in the US Army. He cooked for the troops in Colorado City, CO. 1957 brought changes: He married Alma Welch in March and the plant in Detroit closed. The family moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where a new plant was set to open. He worked at Chrysler Plant #1 in Fenton for 40 years before his retirement in the early 1990s.

Dural and Alma moved to a home in Gray Summit, Missouri and began attending Pacific Church of Christ in 1966 with their two daughters. The things he learned about God and the sacrifice of Christ led him to surrender his life to the Lord in the early 1970s. Those that worked at his plant called him “the Preacher” because he often spoke to others about God.

He loved playing sports with the neighborhood boys, softball at church picnics or pitching horseshoes/washers with his extended family in St. Clair.

Dural is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma; children, Cheryl Rutherford (Lynn, MA), Robin Greene (St. Louis); grandchildren, Keyshane Greene, Matthew Rutherford and Austin Christiansen; great-grandchildren, Matlynn Rutherford and Evan Greene. He is survived by his sister Adene Greene-Meyer (St. Clair Shores, MI) and was preceded in death by his brothers Roy, Al and sister Catherine Romano. Cousins: Clifton Green, Kenneth Green, Betty (Green) Carroll and Cindy (Green) Burgett.

Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2 pm, VFW Post 2661, 813 Jefferson, Washington, MO 63090.

I love my Dad and he will be missed very much! He lived a long life and struggled during his last few so now he may get the rest he deserves with God! R.I.P.

I miss my dad so much now more than ever because a year ago today he was joined by his sister Adene Meyer. I just found out.
