Benedict Boschert

July 8, 1942 – April 1, 2011

Age 68, a kind and gentle man who spoke with his smile has left us to meet Jesus after a short battle with cancer.

Preceded in passing by parents, Victor and Mathilda (Weber) Boschert and his infant brother Kenneth.

Friend to and co-parent with Sandra (Kleeschulte) Boschert.  Bestest Dad to Chris and Jennifer (Hayduk) Boschert, Eric Boschert, Kenton and Vicki (Wessler ) Boschert and Melissa and Paul Niggemeier.  The most awesome Grandpa to Ashley, Whitney, Brendan, Luke, Jack, Brenden, Ben, Christine, Andrea and Brendan.  And the newest great-grandpa to Peyton. His best buddy Bob Herrmann and Lucky the dog will miss him much.  AND He was a friend loved by so many!

Survived by sisters and brothers, Kathleen Lall, Raymond (Helena) Boschert, Quentin (Carol) Boschert, Marleen Paul-Seers, Wilbur Boschert, Mary Frances (Jerry) Knobbe, Justin (Serena) Boschert and many nieces and nephews great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Grandpa Ben retired from 38 years at the GE Lamp Plant in 2000 and had spent the majority of his free time since then counseling his children and grandchildren on the finer points of rooting for the Cardinals, Blues and Rams. According to Grandpa Ben, there was never anyone better than Stan Musial, of course, until Kurt Warner came along. He was also an avid fan of all of his grandkids sporting endeavors. Let’s just say, if there was someone you could count on for money raising opportunities, Grandpa Ben was there to purchase that pizza, cookie dough or French silk pies!

Grandpa Ben was also passionate about spending time at his best buddy Bob Herrmann’s farm in Sullivan, MO. He loved hunting, shooting, nature photography or just hanging out with his children, grandchildren, and of course, Lucky the dog and all of her dog friends.

Services: Memorial Mass 10am Saturday May 7th at St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Charles. A celebration of his life will follow, place to be determined.

Ben has donated his body to the study of cancer cells with GenLife Institute www.genlifeinstitute.com/contact.html

If you wish to make a donation in Ben’s name, we would suggest your local parochial high school, cancer research or support your local youth sports program.

I am so glad I was blessed with the gift of seeing granpa Ben’s winning smile.
What a treat! I will always treasure in my heart the gift of knowing a kind and gentle man; grandpa Ben. Chris, you are right! He truly spoke with his smile.

Ben’s smile and gentle manner will be an inspiration to us to be nicer to one another. I was privileged to know him for a few short years as a grandfather to my grandsons and father-in-law to my daughter, Jennifer.

Chris, only met your Dad at a couple of family functions. Seemed like a very quiet and gentle person who loved life. He had to be great to have raised a son like you. My thoughts are with you as you deal with the sadness of losing a parent as well as a friend.
