Bernice Cocalis

Bernice R. (Steinbrink) Cocalis died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 16, 2007 in hospice care.

Over a lifetime she excelled in many areas: athletics, at Belding playground, mastery of French and German in high school, drawing, painting, and sewing throughout her life. She left us many gifts, including her art work and handmade clothing, slipcovers, and whatever else was needed by family and friends. Her cheering section includes those who know her as Bernice, Aunt B, Gram Cocalis, and Maud.

Bernice is survived by 3 children (John, Pete, and Jane), 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her youngest sister (Eleanor Petersen), her sister-in-law and buddy Myra Steinbrink, son and daughters in law Vicki, Carol, and Tom, and many nieces and nephews who remember her fondly.
She asked that her ashes be cremated and spread in Lincoln Park (Chicago, Illinois). We will gather to scatter her ashes at a time to be announced later.
