Comelia Clayborn

Comelia Clayborn was born October 16, 1908 in Ville Platte Louisiana. She was the sixth child born to the union of Angeline Thomas and John LaViolette. Her parents, three brothers, two sisters and her only son preceeded her in death.
Comelia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. Comelia migrated to California were she met and married her husband Delmar Clayborn. They were married for thirty-two years, he pasted away in 2007.
Upon settling in Meacham Park she visited other churches in the neighborhood, but she chose to unite with First Baptist Church of Meacham Park and was baptized.
Comelia received her education early on in Louisiana. When she moved to Kirkwood with the help of Sherrie, “Momma Tea” enrolled in the Older Adult Education Program at Nipher Jr. High School.
Upon completing the program, her greatest accomplishment was being able to write her name. Comelia always maintained a strong work ethic. After many years of dutiful service as a cook at Manor Grove Nursing Home she was able to retired.
On friday February 20, 2009 the Lord called Comelia home. She was a dedicated mother to Sherrie Marie Charles-Givans (Tyrone Givans), grandmother to Jeannie Charles, Carmelia Charles and LaParis Charles;great-grandmother of Clifford Charles, Jerald (Rebecca) Foster, Sherrissa Foster, Stacie Foster, Stephan Ward, Jumanji Givans, Tyiesha Givans, TyLeon Givans, Shemeka (Pinkee) Charles, Paul Thornton III, Makayla Charles and great-great-great grandmother of four. She leaves to cherish her memory to her dear friend Rainey, Elizabeth Potts, First Baptist Church of Meacham Park Mission Circle and a host of other family and friends.
