Jane Jones

Jane Ellen Jones (Lutz) peacefully passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 surrounded by family, friends and love.  She was a loving and patient wife of thirty-seven years to Alan D. Jones;  mother extraordinaire to Molly J. Jones, Austin D. Jones, and Alison A. Jones; sister to Jacqui Stoneman (Harry), John Thomas Lutz (Barbara), and Jim C. Lutz (Diann).  She was welcomed on the other side by her parents, Jack and Jane Lutz, family and friends.

Jane was born in St. Louis on May 15, 1950, attended Dewey Grade School, Southwest High School and received a Masters Degree in Special Education from University of Missouri – St. Louis.  Jane was a special education teacher for many years and taught in the Kirkwood and Washington, MO school districts.  After the birth of her second child, Jane became a full-time mother and homemaker.  While raising three wonderful children, Jane was active in school activities, sporting events, social clubs and shared her time as a volunteer at the St. Louis Zoo.

Jane was loved and made friends wherever she went.  People gravitated towards her positive energy and infectious personality.  She was strong-willed and opinionated, and loved a good debate.  She was also incredibly open-minded and tolerant of people’s differences.  Although she had three children, she was “Mama Jones” to many more.  Her legacy will live on through all the people she has inspired along the way.

Jane’s generosity and fight against cancer continued even after her death, as she donated her body to medical research in the hope she could help others.  In

lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane’s memory to Friends of Kids With Cancer at www.friendsofkids.com.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service and luncheon celebration on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:30 a.m. at Royale Orleans, 2801 Telegraph Road St. Louis, MO 63125.  Jane’s family has requested that if you would like to share a memory or funny story about Jane, please email it to:  janejonesstories@gmail.com

Jane and I were SSD teachers at North Middle in Kirkwood. She was a kind word and a warm smile to everyone around her. She will be greatly missed and her light was extinguished way too soon. May God Bless you and your family during this difficult time.
