    Dear Charley, Connor, and Ryan,
I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you all and her family. I’ve never met and worked with a nicer person than Jan. She was a dear friend, had a great sense of humor and always had a positive outlook. I was so fortunate to have known her. I’ll always remember her and keep her with me in my heart. Sincerely, Jane

Words that remind me of Jan: love, admiration, respect, mother, wife, friend, sister, beautiful, funny, intelligent, fighter, positive – just to name a few. Jan was a ray of sunshine, a bright and shining star. She was my “Warrior Friend” a fighter from day one until the very last day. She was loved and respected by everyone she came in contact with. I miss her smile, her laugh, and our daily conversations. I love you Jan.

Jan was so lovely in every sense of the word. Her heart so beautiful, her smile, her positive attitude, her kindness toward everyone. She and I had a special bond as we both had breast cancer. We were there for each other and it is going to be harder to be brave without her.

Seeing Janet’s name in the obituaries is surreal to me. She was one of the most alive people I’ve ever known. We had so much fun together in our college years all the way up to our fifties. I will miss her kind, loving presence and her wonderful sense of humor. I’ll miss the delicious meals she prepared with delight. I’ll miss talking about our gardens and our kids and our jobs and everything under the sun. But I’m glad she’s been set free from that aweful cancer. I find peace in knowing she’s with God and soaking up a new life in heaven.

I went to high school with Janet and will always remember her smile. She was such a good person and fun to be around. I remember how thrilled she was when she met Charlie. It was love at first sight. Those are the memories I will always have of Janet. You will all be in my prayers.

I did not know Jan as well as I would have liked, but my brief contacts with her at basket making events told me what a special person – warm-hearted, caring, and more interested in others than in herself- she was. I wish I had known her better, but am glad she is free of the pain of her cancer and enjoying her new life with our Savior.

    Charlie, Ryan & Connor,
Even though we can’t be with you today, please know that you are in our thoughts & prayers. You know how much we love Janet & always will. I remember meeting her for the 1st time when we went to the KFC & finding out how sharp your elbows were!. If ever ther were two people who were soul-mates & the perfect match, it was you & Janet. I was extremely proud that you honored me with being best man for your wedding & for the friendship that we have shared over the years. I will miss her greatly.

    Love,
    Chucker, Sue & Jeff Mooney

I first met Jan on the phone. I was struck by her lovely voice. After I had been helped and treated with kindness and humor by Jan numerous times, I realized how well her voice reflected her nature: deep, rich, kind, and a pleasure to listen to. Though I did not see Jan often, she was precious to me. She was such a beautiful person. It is hard to lose her so soon. Her family and close friends have been truly blessed to have shared her life. I am grateful that she left her lovely imprint in my life. Thoughts of her will remind me to try harder to be kind and to be happy.

    Dear Charlie and family,

I went to college with Janet at SIUE. She was such a beautiful person and helped me out in so many ways during a tough time in my life.

It seems that she was special to a lot to people.
