Henry, John Alvin “Al” on January 30, 2008; dear father of Johnita K. Henry, Jerry Henry and Glen (Marcia) Henry; grandfather of 6; Former spouse and special friend of Bonita Henry.

John served with the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked for the City of St. Louis, Traffic Division of the Streets Department for 47 years. During his working years, his major achievements included the combination of sections of the “Revised Code of the City of St. Louis” with additional sections, which he wrote to provide the “First Traffic Code” Ordinance #46687 passed by the Board of Alderman on July 6, 1953. He later added and ordinance establishing handicapped parking spaces in front of residences and the requirements therefore. He wrote hundreds of ordinances establishing signalized intersections, no parking zones, parking limited zones, etc. He retired from the City of St. Louis Traffic Division in 1990. John was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church until it closed. He then moved his membership to Union United Methodist Church
