Kenneth Conry

Kenneth Robert Conry Sr. was born on July 23, 1935 to Frank and Rose Conry.  He went into the arms of Jesus on November 29, 2011.  He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Shirley(nee Horn). Loving father of Kenneth Conry Jr and Diana(David) Kelewae. Proud grandfather of Melanie(Scott)Harrison, Jennifer(Donnie)Cochran, Justin(Julia) Honold, and Christopher Burgart. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Emma Harrison, Reid Harrison, Allison Honold, and Samuel Cochran.  Dear brother of Bill Conry, the late Ernie Conry, and the late Glenn Conry. Dear Brother In Law, Uncle, and friend.

Memorial Service for Kenneth R. Conry will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2 p.m.  Grace Community Chapel, 7661 Mexico Rd., St. Peters, MO  63376  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Grace Community Chapel Building Fund.

Ken loved the outdoors and nature. Every year he grew a vegetable garden, and he loved fishing and camping. He also loved animals, which was evident with household pets that ranged from dogs, fish, birds, turtles, and any other pet his children would bring home. He always fed the wild birds, and would feed the wild rabbits in the yard apples.

Ken spent several years in the 1970’s as an auxiliary officer for the Dellwood Police Department.
Ken loved Christmas, and from the time his own children were small until his grandchildren came along, he would wear a Santa suit every year, and passed out the gifts.

Ken and Shirley led the youth group at their church for several years, and Ken taught Sunday School. In his later years, Ken volunteered at Barnes St. Peters Hospital in the TLC ward. He would visit patients, and often prayed with them.

Ken never knew a stranger. He was very well known and loved by anyone who saw him sitting out in the driveway in his favorite lawn chair. He waved and said hello to all who passed by. More times than not, the passersby would stop and visit with him.

Ken always had a cheerful and positive nature, even when faced with his failing health. He still saw the bright side of every situation, and was always quick with a smile and a joke.
Although all who knew and loved Ken will miss him, there is comfort in every cherished memory we were blessed enough to share with him.  Our lives were all made richer for having known him.

My husband and I moved into the neighborhood about 3 years ago and one of the best parts, was meeting Ken and Shirley on our walks to the park. Stopping by to chat about the gardens and the weather. He made us smile everytime we passed by. He will be truely missed! Our thoughts and prayers to the family.

Happy New Year dad! I’m so glad that you’re starting 2012 off in Heaven, free from all of the illness and pain that your earthly body had endured for so many years. I have to remind myself that you are once again whole, and in the presence of Christ whenever I get to missing you so badly. I love you dad, and await the day when we will be reunited!

The weather has been so warm and beautiful this week. It seems so strange not seeing you sitting out in your favorite chair in the driveway, smiling and waving to everyone. I’m hoping that you’ve got a chair in heaven to sit in, and that you are waving to all of those who have passed, or are welcoming the newly passed.

It’s hard to believe that you’ve been gone 5 months today. It’s hard to see the flowers and trees in bloom, rabbits romping, and birds singing, because I know you loved them all so much. I bet you’ve got a beautiful garden in Heaven, though. Love and miss you so much, dad.

We have only just heard about Ken’s passing and wanted to express our sorrow for your loss. For quite a while, we noticed that Ken wasn’t outside very often at all, but when we would see him, he was always so upbeat that we would always blame the weather. Once in a while he would mention an illness that had happened to him, but never in a complaining fashion, and we always wanted to believe he was all better. Ken never missed a chance to invite us, our kids and our grandkids to a variety of events at Grace, and it never disappointed. We’ve lived here for 27 years, and our girls grew up knowing Ken only as ‘the waver’ or ‘the greeter’. It has felt like there is a big hole at the end of the street for almost a year, and I’ve been afraid to inquire around as to why. I just wanted it to be the weather. And I know this is so very difficult for everyone close to him, but please know that just seeing him in his chair, waving, smiling and giving that adorable little nod of his, is a fond part of our kids’ childhood memories, and even today, as we pass by, we all smile and give a wave.

Happy Birthday Dad! I miss you so very much, but I know that you’re having a glorious time celebrating your first birthday in Heaven. I’m sure all of the heavenly gifts you’ve received were incredible! Love you always, Dad!

It’s so hard to believe that you have been gone for 9 months, dad. I miss you every day…the sound of your voice, your infectious laugh, and how you always called me “Kid”, even though I was grown with kids and grand kids of my own!

So many of your friends and neighbors have told mom and me that there’s such a huge absence in their lives, not seeing you sitting in your lawn chair and waving and smiling.

    Love you always, Dad!

Happy Thanksgiving, dad. This will be our first one without you, and your first one in Heaven. Today I will miss your laughter, you saying grace, and of course how you’d sneak bites of the food before we sat down to eat 🙂 I love you, and miss you so very much.

Today is the 1st anniversary of you passing away. I can’t believe that you have been gone a year. I miss your voice, your smile, your sense of humor, but most of all your hugs.

Today is going to be hard. Please send an extra big hug from heaven.

    Love you always, Dad!

Today is Thanksgiving, and tomorrow will be the 2nd anniversary of your going to Heaven. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss you, but this time of year is especially hard. Mom misses you so very much too, and it breaks my heart to see her cry. Please reach down from heaven and give her a hug. I could use one too. Love you, dad.
