LaVerta Bond

La-Verta Modestine (Chambers) (Barnes) Bond was born in Kirkwood Missouri,
to Edward Fairfax (aka uncle cookie) and Ruth Millicent Chambers. La-Verta
was born on June 13, 1932 in Kirkwood Missouri where she was a life long
resident. She accepted Christ at Unity Baptist Church at an early age and
became involved in the Church.
La-Verta was educated at James Milton Turner School in Kirkwood, graduated
from Vashon Senior High in St. Louis in 1950, and completed Tucker Business
School in St. Louis 1959 and IBM School in Clayton in 1980.
La-Verta was employed with the Army Record Center, 9700 Page Blvd., St.
Louis, MO from 1967 to 1976 and Probation and Parole, 8525 Page Blvd., St.
Louis, MO.
La-Verta was very talented and wore many hats, she had graphic arts
experience she did the church bulletins, was an experienced seamstress,
typed, data entry, data transcriber, hair, and excellent culinary cook. She
also loved bowling, music, dancing, helping people and celebrated life to
the fullest smiling and spreading joy until the end.
La-Verta was united in Holy Matrimony to Guybert (Tony) Barnes who preceded
her in death and later married John Bond who preceded her in death in 1992.
La-Verta was the youngest of nine siblings: William Chambers, Edward
Chambers Jr., Taylor Chambers, Margaret (Chambers) Caviness, Theodore
Chambers, and Stanley Chambers who all preceded her in death. La-Verta
leaves to mourn two sisters Anita (Chambers) Houchins of Indianapolis
Indiana and Ruth Willa Mae (Chambers) Drayton of Creve Coeur Missouri, a
host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
