Neysa (or Carol or Sunny as she was also known) was an editor and author for many years with McGraw-Hill Book Company and prior to that with Webster Publishing Company. She was author/editor of several special education series as well as with other disciplines. She continued to write and edit on a freelance basis after early retirement. She was a mentor with Mentor St. Louis for nearly 10 years and an active co-member with the Loretto Community. She edited Loretto Magazine for 20 years. Our deepest sympathy and our love to Jim Chouteau and to Martha Alderson on their loss at the departure of Jeanne’s dear cousin, Sunny (Neysa Carol).
Neysa was a leader to the women of the St.Louis community. She is missed.
I am grateful for having known Neysa over the past few years. Her thoughtful, reflective presence, smiling eyes and great sense of humor made each encounter special. My prayers and deep sympathy to Jim and Martha and all her family and friends. May her spirit continue on in all who knew her.
My deepest sympathies go out to Jim, Martha, and the many family members/friends…and loved ones that have been touched by Neysa’s pure “Sunny” disposition! Neysa illuminates pure sunshine, even when the sun is not literally shining.
I was hired to nurse and watch over Neysa, but little did I know that she was the one who nursed my spirits by mentoring me. Neysa touched my soul and invigorated me on a daily basis. She gave me a new found passion for life. She put sunshine in my heart and filled me with her wisdom and positive outlook on life.
I am so very proud to have been touched by one of God’s Angels. Neysa will forever be remembered in my heart. I hope and pray to adopt her “Sunny” outlook on life. Her gratitude, humbleness and smile is the reason I got into nursing in the first place!
Her fire and passion in advocacy reminds me of how far we have come, and yet how we must not fear to take the road less traveled in order to arrive to an equality desired. Neysa, you are dearly remembered, and will be dearly missed!
Love, Annette
Our thoughts are with you Uncle Jim and Martha. You know we will miss her terribly.
I regret our loss. She wrote a pleasant review of Heron Carver’s Miss Seeton books which we also enjoyed. I would have loved to have corresponded with her.
