Richard Scott
Richard D. Scott, 87, formerly of Kansas City, went home on Memorial Day, May 26, 2008. Mr. Scott was a resident of Big Bend Woods Nursing Home. He was born on August 26, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas to Lolar and William Scott. He graduated from Washington Rural High School in 1938 and enlisted in the U. S. Navy, May 14, 1941 and Honorably Discharged October 12, 1945. His service in the Navy was as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, 1st Class, totaling almost 1,300 hrs. of flight time . Most of his service was in the Pacific Islands during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended Strayer College of Accounting, graduating with a Bachelor of Commercial Science in 1948.
Mr. Scott’s professional career was in finance and accounting beginning with Interstate Securities and ending with Dick Richardson Printing Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Scott (Sebring); his sister, Lillie Doty (Scott); his brothers, Christopher C. Scott, Ernest Scott, Marion Scott, Tokio Scott, his parents and father-in-law, Walter W. Sebring and mother-in-law,
Elsie Sebring.
He and his wife, Dorothy, resided in Kansas City, Missouri until 1992 when they retired to St. Louis. They have three surviving children, Christy L. Hageman (David), Dean A. Scott (Debbie) of St. Louis and Neal J. Scott of Lewis, Delaware. They are also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher Hageman (Jill) and Sarah Hageman; and four great-grandchildren, Elliana Hageman, Mia Hageman, Isobel Hageman and Charli Hageman.
