Robert E. Lynch, a well-known figure in real estate, died January 4, 2011 in his sleep at home. Bob, as he was called, was born in Stowe, Vermont to Arthur D. Lynch and Grace Bacon Lynch on January 25, 1919. He was reared in Chicago until the family moved to St. Louis in 1931, and St. Louis was home to him until his death, 80 years later.

Bob attended Clayton High School and then Brown University. He graduated from Washington University- just in time to ender WWII, where he served as an officer on a Navy supply ship in the South Pacific. Returning to St. Louis after the war, he became interested in the world of real estate, first through his mother, Grace Lynch. He was employed by several companies, most recently Coldwell Banker, and for a time had his own company. This was a 60 year career. He found homes for hundreds of people.

Bob enjoyed the cultural life of St. Louis; it’s architecture, theatres, restaurants and gardens. He was a longtime member of the St. Louis Art Museum- Also, he travelled frequently to visit friends and family on the west coast.

Bob is predeceased by his brother, Kedric M. Lynch, and he is survived by his sister, Patsy Lynch Wood and many nieces and nephews. An informal memorial is planned.

Bob will be remembered for his ready sense of humor, his generosity and loyalty of his many friends during his long life.
