Stephen Pfleeger
Stephen Frederick Pfleeger, 73, of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully at home Thursday, January 19, 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born February 23, 1938 in Washington D.C., the son of the late Clarence and Ruth Pfleeger.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and a sister, Judith and brother-in-law Paul Lashway from Bradenton, FL. Also surviving are three children from a previous marriage; a daughter Lesli and son-in-law Joseph Mash; a son Kyle and daughter-in-law Jeannie Pfleeger; and daughter Stephanie Pfleeger all from St. Louis, MO. Two grandchildren, Stephen W. Pfleeger and Kristen Mash from St. Louis, MO also survive, along with a step-granddaughter Alex Walters of Columbia, MO. In addition to the above, he is survived by two nieces, a nephew, four great-nieces, a great-nephew, and one great-great nephew.
Stephen graduated from the University of Maryland and was commissioned into the United States Air Force as a second lieutenant in 1962. After 23 years of service he retired as a major. He then worked for the Electronics and Space Division of Emerson Electric Company in St. Louis as an avionics engineer and international marketing representative. After he retired in 1991, he and his wife Barbara embarked on a journey of world travel including all seven continents.
An Air Force Honor Guard Service will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:30pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Rev. Dr. James Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Columbarium at the cemetery. St. Louis Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
