Thomas Spengemann

Thomas Spengemann passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009. He suffered from many illnesses throughout the past 20 years. He faced every bump in the road with courage and determination; he turned his life around so he could go to “The Mansion Over the Hilltop” to be with the Lord when this day came.

Tom was a hard worker in his life and regretted that he could no longer work because of his illnesses.

Among his many nicknames, his friends always called him the “Birthday Boy” because he never forgot anyone’s birthday. He had a big heart and cared so very much for everyone. He loved his family, his friends, his caregivers, and all of his sweethearts. Tom worked hard to make amends with those he had thought he had offended in his lifetime, and in the end, everyone came together to give him peace. He loved all of you very much!

Tom was born on February 9, 1952 to the late Edward Spengemann and the late Beatrice Spengemann. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his brother, Michael and his wife, Cathy Spengemann (their children, Michael Jr., and Jeffrey); his sister, Laurene and her husband George Kish (their children, Rebecca, Emily, and Rachel); and his brother, Robert and his wife, Karen Spengemenn (their children, Amanda and Heather). He leaves behind a great niece and nephew, as well as cousins. He also leaves behind the love of his life, Ann Morris, and very special friends, Twyla and her children, Eli and Shayla, whom he loved very much and his longtime biker friends. He also leaves behind his Pastor and good friend, Greg Burkmann and his “Wonderful Aide”, Cathy Simmons in Macon, MO.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all of the men and women from the Palliative Care Program who volunteered their time to care for Tom in his last days.

“I love you, Tom, and I will truly miss you and our conversations dearly. You were a great brother and a great friend to me.” Love your sister, Laurene

Tom was a man who spread the word to friends and family about his short cummings and faults ’cuz he did not want anyone to SUFFER the pain and grief he lived with on a daily basis. He would have been the worlds BEST public speaker on selfishness, drug addiction, deception, and regret. Had he advertised and charged money he would have been speaking to people who REALLY wanted to hear and LEARN from him and would have been wealthy because of his first hand knowledge. I started listening to him ’bout a year ago and I have known him for 30 yrs. and EVERY thing he tried to tell me out of love was the honest truth! I will always cherish his kind loving BROKEN heart. He had so much to offer the world but the world let him down and he finally foung the LORD and went in peace. I will always love u Tommy Two Tone.

We met through recovery and God. I never met any of his blood family but for a while we were very much like brothers. I still have a small Harley tack he gave me many years ago. Even after it broke I still keep it. Like many of us he had his flaws but the lack of kindness was never one I saw. We moved from Macon, Mo 4 years before his passing and I hadn’t heard of his death until fairly recent. I miss him even today. Go rest high on that mountain.
